Felicia Hardesty

Prelude

Felicia had a normal childhood and upbringing in one of the suburbs of Los Angeles. It was quite by accident (or perhaps her Avatar nudging her in the right direction) that she became fascinated with stage magicians and stage magic. Her parents approved of her interest, being peripherally involved in the entertainment business themselves (as a movie key-grip and a part time press agent, respectively.) She learned her skills from the best teachers in the area and started her career while still in high school. (She was picked “Most Likely to Succeed” in high school.) She continued her career while a sometime college student, eventually graduating with a BA in Fine Arts from UCLA. She then settled down to a regular series of bookings in and around Los Angeles.

Almost accidentally and quite fortuitously she got the opportunity to try out for the role of Countess Camilla d’Sangre, the hostess of a new late-night horror film program for a local independent TV station. The program proved very successful and the program was eventually syndicated around the country. Part of that success was due to her inspiration and insistence on transferring the role to the stage and playing local college campuses, etc. To further the vampiric aspects of the part, she learned hypnosis and added it to the act.

When the contract was finished, she made arrangements to continue the act and went touring college campuses, her favorite venue. However, she would always return to Los Angeles.

It was there that she discovered, through a friend, the teachings of Dr. Rampal Lomsang. Somewhat an outcast among the Cult of Ecstasy Tradition, Dr. Lomsang was an ascetic individual, more given to introspection and meditation than the more prevalent excesses among the other members of the Tradition. Still, he could drum a mean ritual drum and was sometimes regarded as a confidant among younger Tradition members.

His strong Avatar recognized Felicia’s own: they shared a teacher-student relationship through several lifetimes and was waiting to fulfill their shared destiny again. He Awakened her, told her of their shared history through the ages, and taught her (or reminded her) of the skills and talents she would need for her life ahead.

Soon after Felicia completed her studies, Dr. Lomsang passed to his next incarnation. Felicia led a week-long wake for him in his honor, in which every Cult of Ecstasy member in the area (and several from far away) participated. It was highlighted by a marathon drumming session which was aided by several appreciative Dreamspeakers. Eventually members from every Tradition (and, it was suspected, a few from the Progenitors and Void Engineers of the Technocracy) came to party.
