A relatively late addition to the website, the Recent Updates page lists the posts and pages in descending order by modification date as opposed to the publication date, as many pages (and potentially posts) have been published and then modified at a later time. Thus, such pages would not appear as such on the Archive or Site Map pages and would only be displayed on a page that took the post modification date into account.
The Recent Updates template is based on the post display functionality of Site Map template as it uses the same sorting algorithm and jQuery block toggling functionality.

The page consists of the standard page HTML statements and a call to the
avp_get_recent() function which does all the actual work of querying the database, ordering the information and presenting it to the viewer.
